5 Start, 5 Sit for Week 10 of the 2023 NFL Season

We’re more than halfway through the season now and nothing is what we expected it to be. First round picks are being outperformed by undrafted rookies and Josh Dobbs is a top 10 fantasy quarterback. What I have for you is some insight that might make it easier for you to make that final push toward a playoff spot. Just like always: 5 good, 5 bad.

Joshua Dobbs vs NO – Start

The “Passtronaught” has been cleared for takeoff…and take off he did. With only four days logged in a Vikings’ uniform, Dobbs came in part way through the game and ended up finishing as the QB5. After struggling a bit with the Cardinals sub-par offense, Dobbs is now in a place where I think he can truly thrive. He brings dual threat to the Minnesota offense (something they have not had in a while), but still remains a solid pocket passer. If you are lucky enough to have him on your roster, you might have a great QB2 for your team.

Aaron Jones vs PIT – Start

Aaron Jones’ presence was not really felt since week 1 due to injury and misuse. However, last week he got something that he had seriously been lacking…VOLUME. Last week was the first time since week 10 of last year that he logge d 20 carries and he ended up in the top 10 for running back scorers. Funny how that works, eh Matt LeFleur? If Jones keeps getting 25+ touches a game, he should be an auto-start for your team. “If” being the important word.

Jahan Dotson vs SEA – Start

I love what I’ve seen from Dotson the last two weeks. His targets picked up starting in week 7 and the production followed suit after that. Two straight weeks with touchdowns and top 10 WR finishes is a great streak to start. Against Seattle this week, I think the Commanders are going to have to rely on their pass game to stay in it, which means a lot of work for Dotson. See if you can find a spot to play him.

Taysom Hill vs MIN – Start

I meme about Taysom Hill quite a bit, but honestly he has been absolutely dominating the past few weeks. FOUR consecutive weeks of top 10 TE finishes and three straight weeks with a touchdown is what I expect to say about Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews, not Taysom Hill. Regardless he’s been utilized heavily in the pass game as a quarterback and a pass catcher and scores plenty of points both ways. It might feel silly, and your projection probably won’t be super high, but seriously think about rocking with the Mormon Missile this week.

Josh Jacobs vs NYJ – Start

This one might be kind of obvious given the whole “Rushing Leader of 2022” thing, but some people might have been turned off by the major coaching changes with the Raiders. It is, in fact, the opposite. I think Jacobs is even more valuable now than he has been all season. The players are invigorated by the interim head coach and the offensive scheme is being changed to really be run first. You were probably starting Jacobs anyway, but this is a sign to maybe go and trade for him if he isn’t on your roster.

Sit:

Jordan Love vs PIT – Sit

Jordan Love continues to disappoint fantasy owners after a great start to the season. He hasn’t had a top 10 performance since week 3 and only has five touchdowns in his last five games. Against a very tough Steelers defense, I don’t see him turning things around. He likely will be ending up outside of QB2 range this week, so I would stash him if you can.

Bijan Robinson vs ARI – Sit

I would love to be able to tell you that you can confidently start the guy you may likely spent your first round pick on, but I can’t. Bijan hasn’t had a truly fantasy relevant game since week 4. For whatever reason, the offensive gameplan refuses to utilize him in any sort of good way. This is a trend with the Falcons and all of their good players, so really it shouldn’t be a surprise. Sadly, as long as Arthur Smith is the head coach, you might not be seeing sustainable production out of Bijan.

George Pickens vs GB – Sit

The Steelers finally have their guy! Unfortunately it’s Diontae Johnson. All of the great performances Pickens put up due to crazy volume just simply can’t happen as long as Diontae is on the field pulling 14 targets a game. Pickens should have WR2 value, but the Steelers offense is so low power, that WR2 equals 6 points a game. Until some major change happens, PIckens is really a boom or bust flex play.

Trey McBride vs ATL – Sit

From TE1 to TE27. That’s what a rookie quarterback will do to you. The good news for McBride is that Kyler Murray is returning to pilot the Cardinals this week. I, however, don’t see that going all that well. This is Murray’s first game back from a year-long knee rehab. I generally treat this the same way I treat rookie quarterbacks in their first starts…leaving them on the bench. Kyler may end up doing well, and by extension so will Trey, but I think it’s more likely we see a lot of rust from Kyler, and everyone else on the team suffers as a result.

Sam Howell vs SEA – Sit

This may be surprising after how much I tout Sam Howell most other weeks, but the Seahawks have a quietly great defense against fantasy quarterbacks. Weeks 2 and 3 are the only two weeks a quarterback has scored more than 16 fantasy points playing the Seahawks. For a team as inconsistent as the Commanders, I think Howell may end up on the lower end of that average range, even if the rest of the team does alright.
