Linebacker Injury Report Week 7

Below are some injuries worth monitoring as we start Week 7. Please consider these players’ injuries when setting your lineups.

Arizona Cardinals

The talk right now is Kyzir White sustained a knee injury during the second quarter of the Cardinals’ loss to the Packers on Sunday and did not return. Krys Barnes is the direct replacement but is in wait and see mode right now. If White does not go, expect Barnes to take over duties and assume an every-down linebacker role. Given the fact that White did practice this week, and it is a Monday night game, it is likely that Kyzir White will play.

Atlanta Falcons

Poor Falcons. Earlier this week, the Falcons were without three of their starters due to injuries. Here we will focus on linebacker Troy Andersen, as he continues to be sidelined due to a knee injury

This linebacker rotation has been a mess. Good luck guessing that. The only one that has a consistent role is Kaden Elliss, but he is used more as a pass rusher at times.

With news of the Andersen Injury, this will greatly benefit Nate Landman.

Landman was limited in Wednesday’s practice with a lingering calf injury but practiced without restrictions on Thursday, IDP Managers we could all assume now that he could play for the Week 7 matchup against the Seahawks. In the Week 6 win over Carolina, Landman recorded eight tackles (four solo) and forced two fumbles. So he should be a sure bet to do that again in this matchup.

Cleveland Browns

With Jordan Hicks sidelined by injury, Mohamoud Diabate stepped in as his primary replacement, playing 74% of the snaps. As a result, Devin Bush‘s snap count dropped to 55%. I don’t want to play either of them, however, Hicks had just a limited practice so we must be mindful and anticipate a move.

Dallas Cowboys

Eric Kendricks was also inactive, dealing with shoulder and calf injuries. In his absence, Damone Clark took over play-calling duties and played every down alongside DeMarvion Overshown. They are on bye this week, so this move doesn’t matter but keep an eye on it for next week.

Houston Texans

Azeez Al-Shaair sustained a knee injury and exited the game. Although he attempted to return, he ultimately had to leave again. Neville Hewitt took over play-calling duties in his absence. Meanwhile, Henry To’oTo’o suffered a concussion late in the game and was replaced by Jake Hansen. Christian Harris, who was expected to come off IR last week, still did not practice.

Keep an eye on Christian Harris‘s news as he will be the long-term pick-up here. Harris is no stranger to being an every-down linebacker producing 101 tackles (65 solos) last season.  For right now, Hewitt is your guys and a journeyman but could be expected to be a fill-in, last week he played every single snap and wore the green dot once the injuries occurred.

Minnesota Vikings

Cashman got injured this week with a turf toe. Expect Ivan Pace Jr. to emerge with green-dot duties and become an every-down linebacker again.  In Cashman’s absence, Kamu Grugier-Hill is expected to step into a starting role

New Orleans Saints

With Pete Werner being out for a hamstring injury, for the third straight game, expect a rotation of multiple players to share the role here. Because the Saints are the only NFL team left still playing Cover-5, cornerbacks are lucrative here and could be used as LB3 production weeks. In Werner’s absence, we should see more increased defensive snaps for Alontae Taylor, while D’Marco Jackson and Anfernee Orji have provided rotational depth at linebacker behind starters the starters of Demario Davis and Willie Gay.
