IDP Waiver Wire for Week 13
We made it to Week 13! For many fantasy football leagues, this is the week before the regular season concludes. If your team has not clinched a playoff spot, it’s do-or-die time. All it takes is making the postseason and you never know what can happen. So let’s take a look at some players that will improve those playoff chances.
The numbers in parentheses next to the player’s name represent their ownership on Sleeper. Any scoring references will be in the IDP123 system.
Defensive Line
Do you remember when Christian Barmore (20%) broke out last year and notched 8.5 sacks? It’s easy to forget, but the Patriots’ defensive tackle became one of the top IDP options at the position. He’s missed the entire season up until recently due to blood clots. In his second game back against the Dolphins, he managed a 51% snap share and posted a sack. I expect Barmore to only increase his playing time going forward and his ceiling is way too high to leave him in the free agent pool.
I’ve been waiting for the Odafe Oweh (25%) breakout for years. His snap count is all over the place from 45 to 85%. However, he has 3.5 sacks in the past two games and he’s top 10 in the NFL in pass-rush win rate at 19%. So he’s doing the right things and we may be in for a nice sack streak late in the season. I’d definitely grab him before someone else notices his talent and imminent production.
Other options: Leonard Williams (36%), Seahawks; Jadeveon Clowney (14%), Panthers; and Gervon Dexter (11%), Bears.
Linebackers
We’ve had a couple of weeks to see how the linebacker rotation in Cleveland will shake out. You probably won’t be able to grab Jordan Hicks unless you are in a shallower league. Mohamoud Diabate (10%) is a perfectly solid LB3/Flex to start if you have need at the position. He’s hovering around an 80% snap share, while also posting seven and six tackles in the past two games respectively.
Edgerrin Cooper didn’t play against the 49ers. Isaiah McDuffie suffered an ankle injury in the game. The Packers are pretty thin at linebacker. I can’t promise that Eric Wilson starts against the Dolphins, but if you are in a deeper league and need the linebacker help, he’s a low-key addition worth stashing. He’s been effective when thrown into the lineup.
Other options: Dre Greenlaw (55%), 49ers; Anfernee Jennings (20%), Patriots; and Tyrice Knight (19%), Seahawks.
Defensive Backs
For those in cornerback-required leagues, the Cardinals’ Garrett Williams (5%) offers a nice floor. He plays in the slot and usually exceeds 80% snap share. Williams has scored double digits in fantasy points the last three games and even secured an interception against the Seahawks in Week 12. The schedule isn’t daunting down the stretch and includes quarterbacks Drake Maye and Bryce Young.
Dan Quinn looks like he’s settled on two safeties going forward. Percy Butler’s snaps have dwindled down. Jeremy Chinn and Quan Martin (12%) are the main beneficiaries from an IDP standpoint. Martin has reached 100% of snaps in the past two games. He posted six tackles in the previous three contests including two forced fumbles. I’m comfortable starting him at DB in most formats.
Other options: Josh Butler (<1%), Cowboys; Jarvis Brownlee (4%), Titans; and Dadrion Taylor-Demerson (6%), Cardinals.
