Eleven Edge Rushers that will see an increase in sacks in 2023.

Some IDP leagues place an enormous bonus on sacks, so identifying players that may have an uptick in 2023 can give you an advantage over your league mates. For example, a player could receive 10 total points for each sack: sack, 4 points; tackle for loss, 2 points; quarterback hit, 1 point; and a tackle from a defensive lineman, 3 points.

Listed below are ten edge rushers that I expect will have a decent increase in sacks in the coming season. Some of these players should take a second-year jump, a few of them are returning from injury, while a few were unable to convert quarterback pressures into sacks.

Kayvon Thibodeaux, New York Giants

2022 Sacks: 4.0

2023 Projection: 8.0

Note: I am expecting Thibodeaux will take a second-year leap.

Josh Allen, Jacksonville Jaguars

2022 Sacks: 6.0

2023 Projection: 9.0

Note: I don’t think Allen will have eight straight games without a sack like last season.

Jaelan Phillips, Miami Dolphins

2022 Sacks: 7.0

2023 Projection: 9.0

Note: Last year Phillips created a good number of pressures and QB hits, but didn’t finish enough.

Harold Landry, Tennessee Titans

2022 Sacks: 0.0

2023 Projection: 8.0

Note: Landry missed the entire 2022 season.

Chase Young, Washington Commanders

2022 Sacks: 0.0

2023 Projection: 7.5

Note: Young only played the last three games this past season.

Zaven Collins, Arizona Cardinals

2022 Sacks: 2.0

2023 Projection: 7.0

Note: The Cardinals have a new defensive coordinator, Nick Rallis, and as a result Collins is switching from linebacker to edge rusher.

Kwity Paye, Indianapolis Colts

2022 Sacks: 6.0

2023 Projection: 8.5

Note: Paye was on my 2022 list but was one of my few misses as he didn’t play five games due to injury.

Travon Walker, Jacksonville Jaguars

2022 Sacks: 3.5

2023 Projection: 6.5

Note: Walker can produce a few more sacks in his sophomore season.

Marcus Davenport, Minnesota Vikings

2022 Sacks: 0.5

2023 Projection: 5.0

Note: A change in scenery may be able to help Davenport turn his quarterback pressures into sacks.

Jonathan Greenard, Houston Texans

2022 Sacks: 1.5

2023 Projection: 6.0

Note: Greenard missed nine games last season, but he will be working with new coach DeMeco Ryans and play across from rookie Will Anderson.

Charles Harris, Detroit Lions

2022 Sacks: 1.0

2023 Projection: 5.0

Note: Harris missed 11 games last season, but returning to health and playing across from Aidan Hutchinson will help his cause.
