Here are some of the most intriguing storylines we have seen heading into Week 12.

Cleveland Browns

The news here is Jordan Hicks came back from injury and played 100% of snaps with six tackles, while Mohamoud Diabate only had 80% with seven tackles. As you could assume, neither did much for IDP Managers on those stat lines.  Devin Bush also saw significant usage, playing 72% of the snaps and leading the team with eight tackles. With Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah out, this seems to be the new pecking order.

Denver Broncos

As you can guess Cody Barton is your only every-down linebacker now.  Justin Strnad saw 47% of snaps with three tackles, while Zach Cunningham played 19% of snaps and produced three tackles. Not good. Cody Barton should be the only linebacker considered to play.

Detroit Lions

There was a massive output in the Lions linebacker room this week with five players all getting usage. The big three- Jack Campbell 93.8%, Malcolm Rodriguez 89.6%, and Alex Anzalone receiving 41.7%. The news here was Anzalone broke his arm and will be out for at least six weeks, so he is done for this IDP Fantasy season.  What owners should pay attention to also, is before that injury happened there were 20 snaps on the football field, with Rodriguez having 18 and Campbell having 16 of them.  The key difference is Rodriguez is playing off the edge as opposed to Campbell playing the ideal linebacker spot we all want in IDP. Given the two choices, Campbell is the one to own regardless of the lesser snap usage.

Jack Campbell took over Anzalone’s role post-injury and played every snap making him the new green dot. Expecting Rodriguez to have the old Jack Campbell role. Ben Niemann (12.5%) and Zeke Turner (8.3%) do not have a consistent enough role to be relied upon in any league.

Green Bay Packers

As previously reported for weeks now, there seems to be a shift in the LB2 room in favor of Cooper over McDuffie. Well here is a proof and another week of this, As Edgerrin Cooper finally out-snapped Isaiah McDuffie 51-21.

Houston Texans

Azeez Al-Shaair came back from injury and became the 100% option again, however, there were changes to the linebacker corps. Looking at LB2, Devin White received 67.7% of snaps. This left Henry To’oTo’o with 35.1% on LB3 duties. Maybe because this was a blowout score with the Texans defeating the Cowboys 34-10 is still something to think about. Just odd.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Foyesade Oluokun received 96.8% of snaps but played 16% of them on the edge. This is puzzling as he is not known as a pass rusher, yet this limited his ability. As previously reported, this alignment impacts his ability to make plays and weakens his tackle efficiency. Still, at least he is on the field now but may serve as a fantasy LB2 moving forward. Devin Lloyd with 87% and Ventrell Miller at 38.1% seem to be the typical pecking order.

Kansas City Chiefs

As it has been previously reported and discussed on our RPO discord and social media sites. Nick Bolton, receives every down snap but not showing up in production, Bolton has only two games this year where he achieved more than nine tackles and only one where he had a sack or put up more than 10 plus tackles. Since he does not do anything on the impact side for FF or INTS either, he is LB3 at this point in the season. In shallow leagues, look for better options.

Los Angeles Chargers

As previously reported, Daiyan Henley has become in recent weeks an every-down linebacker and the only one worth owning. Three of the last four weeks with 100% usage and all four weeks on 10 plus tackles.

Los Angeles Rams

This rotation has been a headache all season with a new snap leader each week. It was no different this week as Christian Rozeboom lead the snaps with 64.5% to Omar Speights 55.3%. A musical chair rotation of sorts. Let’s not forget Troy Reeder will come back at some point. None of them are every down players at this time and only playable in deep leagues.

Miami Dolphins

Jordyn Brooks had 100% snaps, and Anthony Walker played nearly every down, 98% snaps. I would not get comfortable with the latter name, as this team is moving on to Tyrel Dodson eventually as they picked him up off waivers.

Two things are worth mentioning and remain a puzzle here.

1. How quickly a linebacker could pick up his new role in a new system. For example, we have seen Ernest Jones do this twice differently on two different schemes and have separate results- Tennessee started him out slow on a pitch count, but then in Seattle, we saw him thrown right into an every-down role right from the start.

2. How long will Anthony Walker be useable is the other mystery, we saw him play with the green dot but his time is limited but how soon is the IDP question? Smart owners may choose to handcuff as playoffs are approaching to make sure one of them will get all the snaps at LB2 and start.

New England Patriots

This team likes to historically rotate their linebackers, when healthy, and that is what we saw in Week 11.  Jahlani Tavai wore the green dot and received 80% of snaps. However, Christian Elliss also wore the green dot on Dime and Nickel down passing situations and received 69.2% as well. Both guys factor in as LB3 usage in deeper leagues, although Elliss getting close to 70% and being able to slot at DL is a sneaky good DL2 appeal if you play him there. Sione Takitaki with 34.6% and rookie Curtis Jacobs 7.7% rounded out the rest.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The team played a lot of nickel in Week 11, and it worked! Generating three turnovers and two sacks. But with that, the mystery was going to be who the two linebackers were going to be. We have seen Patrick Queen remain 100% in every down role as he did this game. The other LB2 spot remains a position battle. In this game, we seen Elandon Roberts (51% on three tackles) out-snapped Payton Wilson (34% two tackles and one interception) 31-21 so these two will continue to vulture each other’s value.

Seattle Seahawks

As previously reported, Tyrice Knight was going to play the LB2 now that Dodson is gone alongside every down-linebacker Ernest Jones. But as we said, he still is not an every-down player only receiving 81% of the snaps and being pulled out on obvious passing downs. He still was effective with 10 tackles in Week 11.  Be mindful of this as this defense has shifted to more Three-Safety sets so is not a 100% role as previously shared with Dodson and Baker. Consider Knight a 75%-80% snap share LB2 so for this reason he is a starter only in deeper leagues.

Tennessee Titans

The news here was Jerome Baker swooping in and taking Jack Gibbens‘ snaps after he got injured, but Baker was out-snapping him even before the injury occurred. Now a lot of owners may point to the fact that Gibbens has a lingering injury anyway, but news broke out quickly that Gibbens broke his ankle and is out for the season. A quick reminder in IDP, just how quickly player’s value can change, especially after Gibbens was on a tear the last few weeks.

Conversely, after seeing no action in the last two games, Jerome Baker stepped in and received 84.9% and eight tackles. That is good for LB2 stats for the rest of the season. Sadly, Gibbens is droppable now in redraft leagues.
