Here are some of the most intriguing storylines we have seen heading into Week 17.

Arizona Cardinals

We covered this last week but to watch it all unfold, Mack Wilson was hurt, and his replacement Krys Barnes didn’t get a two-down role or factor in at all with 18% snaps and three tackles. Barnes is not playable in any format. Kyzir White was the only ever-down linebacker as the team elected to stay in Dime packages for the majority of this game. I would keep an eye on Mack Wilson’s injury throughout the week.

With Matt Milano out, Terrel Bernard continued his every-down role but a rotation of Dorian Williams and Baylon Spector occurred as the LB2 role was carved out.

Spector got injured after halftime, at that point he had 37% with 3 tackles and 0.05 sacks. This led to a Dorian Williams increased opportunity but don’t get it twisted, they both shared snaps before this injury happened.

Dorian Williams was the leader between these two for snaps with 66%, producing 8 tackles. It may be risky playing these two as they might vulture each other in tackles weekly, it’s anyone’s guess weekly until this injury. Updated 12/24/24, with Spector injured now going to IR, the Bills just brought Nicholas Morrow back to the team.

Jacoby Windmon was an undrafted rookie who served both UNLV and Michigan State. Primarily playing as an OLB, he tallied 18 career sacks and got a reputation as being a strong blitzer and run stuffer. As often these players do,  he started a few games but missed nine due to injury, this caused him to go unnoticed and not be drafted. Though buried on depth charts, the Steelers (a team known to develop linebackers) signed him to their practice squad before the Panthers called him up, in need of someone who could start Week 15.

For being an unknown Windmon delivered with 77% of the snaps and recorded 8 tackles and a sack. It’s his job moving forward. While the rest of your league is still guessing who this team’s LB2 is, pick him up now as he could play as your team’s LB3.

No new changes except Team Captain Akeem Davis-Gaither wore the green dot instead of Germaine Pratt. They both play three downs and have their own roles, I just wanted to share this information.

Dallas Cowboys

With Eric Kendricks being a last-minute scratch before the game, we got to see two different linebackers get run in this rotation. Last week’s impact player, Marist Liufau received 100% snaps while producing 7 tackles and a forced fumble. The news was Nick Vigil stepped in with 95.8% and led the team with ten total tackles. He stands to be a good option off waivers, considering Kendricks is hurt and was questionable leading up to this week. Keep an eye on the injury report as both players are playable.

Houston Texans

As we previously reported, Henry To’oTo’o wore the green dot and received 97% of snaps, and produced ten tackles, while Christian Harris played 100% of snaps with 7 tackles and a sack. Amazingly, Harris is only owned in 7% of leagues, so take a look and pick him up as he has matchups against the Ravens and Titans next two weeks, both teams will attempt to run.

Indianapolis Colts

Zaire Franklin, as we all know, plays every down but the news here was with Speed being hurt, who would emerge as the team’s LB2? Jaylon Carlies showcased his impressive coverage skills, PFF grade of 82.0, and with 98% snaps delivered a ten-tackle performance. Grant Stuard saw limited action with just 26% and two tackles is not playable now. It is clear now, that Carlies is the guy to own in Dynasty and a great redraft stash while E.J. Speed is out.

The news here is that Junior Colson became the LB2, outplaying the mostly injured Denzel Perryman. Only producing two tackles on 56% snaps, neither of these two linebackers is playable. Daiyan Henley is the only ever-down player worth owning here.

Bobby Okereke is done for the season. The news here is, that Micah McFadden exited with a neck injury and did not return. Rookie Darius Muasau assumed play-calling duties, playing 100% snaps and producing 11 tackles. Ty Summers stepped into the role. However, Muasau would be the linebacker to own if McFadden remains sidelined.

Well, it has been one of those years for the 49ers. Dre Greenlaw went down again to injury. Once Greenlaw exited, Dee Winters took over in his role, logging 76% of the snaps and producing 7 tackles. He is certainly playable now in leagues during this championship week.

Tennessee Titans

This team is bad, and out of need, has resorted to their LB4 and LB5. How bad? This week the team set records on rushing defense. The Titans’ defense gave up 335 rushing yards, marking the highest total allowed by any defense in a game this season. This performance also ranks as the fourth-highest rushing yardage allowed in a single game over the past decade!

With Jerome Baker inactive and Luke Gifford out. Otis Reese (ankle) and Kenneth Murray (wrist) looked to be the LB rotation before both got hurt. James Williams played but we warned you to be mindful 39:59 on last week’s podcast Week 16 IDP+ Offense Mailbag Show Offense TNF | Betting

Instead, it was Cedric Gray took over 56% of snaps producing 11 tackles, and wore the green dot. With all this tomfoolery going on, you will have to check the injury report, but Cedric Gray is a strong volume play in all leagues and should be a strong target off waivers this week.
