IDP Start and Sit for Week 14

For many this is the final week of fantasy football regular season. Every person in your lineup plays a pivotal role. Are you on the verge of making the playoffs? Are you a win away from securing the bye week? Do you need to win to jump a few seeds and possibly get an easier matchup in week 1 of the playoffs? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then knowing who to start and who to sit becomes that much more important.

I am still riding the hot streak with five straight weeks above 60% correct! Last week we got 9 out 10 players correct. Every one of our starts saw at least 17 points! Let’s ride into the playoffs with a valiant end of season performance! Before we do so though, let us look at last week’s numbers.

*Side note- a sit to me is somebody that will get 10 or less fantasy points.*

Week 13 Starts (5 Pass)

Andrew Van Ginkel– 28pts – Pass; Alex Highsmith– 20pts – Pass; E.J. Speed– 17pts – Pass; Eric Kendricks– 21pts – Pass; Jordan Battle– 18pts – Pass

Week 13 Sits (4 Pass,1 Fail)

Myles Garrett / Za’Darius Smith– 0pts / 1pt – Pass; Chase Young– 1pt – Pass; Jack Campbell (Alex Anzalone was Out, so I had mention to pivot if that was the case) Pivot Option Willie Gay– 8pts – Pass; Byron Young– 10pts – Pass; Budda Baker– 16pts – Fail

If you are feeling hesitant about any IDP I mention, then be sure to check out my additional start/sit options. Now let’s get into my Week 14 Starts & Sits for IDP!

START

DL- Kwity Paye (IND) @ Cincinnati Bengals (START)

Paye is currently on a three-game sack streak. Four, if you include his half sack in week 9. Paye was off to hot start to begin the season. From week 4 to week 7 he hit a little cold streak. He seems to be back on track. He is adding pressure at the line and getting to the quarterbacks. Quarterback Jake Browning has been sacked 9 times in the past three weeks. Paye has a good opportunity to continue his sack streak this week.

DL- Carl Granderson (NOLA) vs Carolina Panthers (START)

Speaking of opportunities to get sacks, Carl Granderson is another player that has a great opportunity to make a big play this week. Quarterback Bryce Young has been sacked 15 times in the last 3 weeks. Granderson does only have 5.5 sacks on the season, but there is upside since he has proven he can get to the quarterback! He has 7 quarterback hits through the past 5 games. Chances are the rookie might not see him in time to throw the football. Last week Granderson had 3 total tackles. In the four weeks prior to that week, he was averaging 5 tackles per game! Look for him to either connect with Young or get at least four tackles this week.

LB- YaYa Diaby (TAMPA) @ Atlanta Falcons (START)

Diaby has seen his fair share of snaps throughout the season. The Buccaneers’ linebacking core has had some injuries the past couple weeks that have given Diaby a bigger role. In the past two weeks, he has seen the most snaps of his rookie season. This week should be no different against a team focused on running the ball. Last week quarterback Desmond Ridder was sacked 3 times. In the past four weeks Diaby has 4 sacks. There is opportunity this week for him to get a sack or multiple tackles. He is worth the start this week.

LB- Quay Walker (GB) @ New York Giants (START)

Walker missed back-to-back weeks in week 9 and 10. He has not missed a beat since returning in week 11. He has seen 100% of snaps in every game he has played except one (week 5). He has averaged just over 8 tackles per game in these past three weeks. He is once again the pulse for this Green Bay defense. He has a fairly easy matchup against a team that is relying on rookie quarterback to give them hope. Walker is the only Green Bay Packer linebacker I am 100% starting without question.

DB- Justin Simmons (DEN) vs Los Angeles Chargers  (START)

Simmons is coming off one of his worst performances of the season. He had two total tackles last week against the Houston Texans. The upside is he still saw 100% of snaps. This week should be no different as he faces a team that likes to pass the ball. Simmons wants to forget last week fast. Week 14 against the Chargers is the perfect opportunity to do so. Look for him to get back on the 4+ tackles list as he has been for a majority of the season.

Additional Players to consider starting:

Dolphins – Andrew Van Ginkel

Jets – Quinnen Williams

Panthers – Frankie Luvu

Rams – Ernest Jones

Jets – Jordan Whitehead

SIT

DL- Montez Sweat (CHI) vs Detroit Lions  (SIT)

Sweat has already played the Lions once. In week 11 at Detroit, he had two total tackles and one sack. His downfall was he was only able to get one total pressure on quarterback Jared Goff. This week he does get the advantage of being at home. The Lions still have a healthy offensive line. Sweat has shown sparks of being a presence that creates pressure. In week’s 10 and 12, he had 14 total pressures. These division games become a bit more gritty, more physical at the line. I expect the Lions offensive line to rise to the occasion again preventing heavy pressure from the Bears front seven. I do like Sweat as a rusher, but I am benching him this week.

DL- Haason Reddick (PHI) @ Dallas Cowboys (SIT)

The last time these teams met, the Eagles had 5 sacks on quarterback Dak Prescott. Reddick had one of those sacks. He has had two sacks since that game. On the other hand, Prescott has had 4 sacks in the last 4 weeks. All 4 of those sacks came last week against Seattle. This means the Cowboys offensive line did not allow Prescott to be sacked for 3 straight weeks! The Eagles will do what they can to bring pressure. Prescott is cooking. His protection from his offensive line is a huge part of that. I do not think the Eagles will be as lucky as they were last time they met. This has me benching Reddick this week. I think the Cowboys will do their part in limiting the pressure from the Eagles front seven.

LB- Harold Landry (TEN) @ Miami Dolphins  (SIT)

Landry has a tough matchup this week. The Dolphins have a strong offensive line. They also have weapons across the field that know how to make defenders miss. Landry is averaging just over 5 tackles per game in the past 3 weeks. That is great for him. In week 12, he had a down week with only three total tackles. Against a fast Dolphins offense, I think he may have a similar outing this week. I have him on my bench in all formats for that matter.

DB- Ryan Neal (Tampa) @ Atlanta Falcons (SIT)

In week 8, Neal saw 100% of snaps. Since then, he has only seen over 50% of snaps once. He started off the season hot averaging 8 tackles per game in the first 3 weeks. In the last four games he has played he has managed just under 3 tackles per game. Part of that could be his decrease in snap percentage. It could be the fact that he has a lingering thumb injury. There is hope seeing that he finally got back above 50% of snaps last week. However, until I see the early season Neal, I am keeping him on my bench. Plus, this matchup should be a matchup fought in the trenches. I do not expect the Falcons to pass heavily meaning Neal’s opportunities could be limited.

DB- Grant Delpit (CLE) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (SIT)

The Jaguars took a beating when they lost quarterback Trevor Lawrence (ankle) and wide receiver Christian Kirk (core muscle). Delpit is a key piece in Cleveland’s defense. He has seen over 90% of snaps in every game but one. C.J. Beathard seems to be in line to take the role of starting quarterback if Lawrence misses time. This might mean a run heavy script with Travis Etienne. Delpit has seen a slight dip in production the past two weeks, averaging 4 tackles per game. The previous three weeks he averaged 7 tackles per game. Beathard may be unable to move the ball enough to give Delpit the opportunity to have a big scoring game.

Additional Players to consider sitting:

49ers – Javon Hargrave

Bills – Gregory Rousseau

Eagles – Shaquille Leonard

Dolphins – DeShon Elliott

Jaguars – Andre Cisco
