IDP Waiver Wire for Week 12

If you are looking for defensive players to upgrade your roster, check out my list of IDP Waiver Wire additions for week 12. These recommendations are based on a 12-team league with an IDP123 scoring system, but I will also add a few names for deeper leagues. With players like Kyzir White and Lavonte David injured, you may need to find a replacement. Also, don’t forget, this week will have three games on Thursday and one on Friday!

Defensive Linemen

Cameron Heyward (DT – Steelers)

So here is my point on Cam Heyward, the veteran hasn’t recorded a sack so far this season, but he’s only played in four games. Even if he doesn’t get a sack, his tackle numbers are consistently good as he is a strong run defender. This week the Steelers will be facing the divisional rival Bengals, a team that hasn’t been a good matchup in producing tackles to defensive tackles. Although, I think there exists a scenario where the Bengals will run the ball more with Joe Burrow out of the season. Also, the Bengals are a top 3 team in allowing sacks to defensive tackles. Another thing that I like is the history of matchups between Heyward and the Bengals. In 16 games played against Cincinnati, Heyward had a sack in 10 of these games.

Additional Options: D.J. Wonnum, DeMarcus Lawrence and Zach Sieler.

Linebackers

Micah McFadden (LB – Giants):

McFadden is a player who is only rostered 5%, according to Sleeper, but he’s worth adding as a linebacker playing more than 70% of the snaps. This season he has recorded 65 tackles, 0.5 sack, 1 interception and 3 fumble recoveries. This week, he will be facing the Patriots, a team that hasn’t been a great matchup for linebackers in tackles and fantasy points. But the quarterback position has been a problem for the Patriots and the running game with Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott appears to be the only salvation for this poor passing attack. Prior to the bye week, the Patriots allowed 26 tackles to linebackers, including 15 to Zaire Franklin.

Additional Options: SirVocea Dennis, Krys Barnes and Christian Harris.

Defensive Backs

Ji’Ayir Brown (S – 49ers)

A few weeks ago, I wrote here that It’s almost impossible to find, on waivers, a strong safety playing 100% of the snaps. Well, here is your chance. Brown won’t be the strong safety 100%, especially because the 49ers frequently use Cover 2 packages and move the strong safety deep, but he will be playing every snap. Hufanga tore his ACL last game and opened up the spot for Brown to be the starter moving forward. He didn’t disappoint with the increased responsibility on Sunday, he recorded 4 tackles, 3 passes defended and 1 interception. The 49ers are a contender and will have tough matchups coming up and I’m more than sure that Brown will be be able to help your fantasy team if you need a replacement.

Additional Options: P.J. Locke, Alohi Gilman, Quandre Diggs and Kyler Gordon.
