IDP Waiver Wire for Week 14

Week 14 is among us and it’s the last week of the regular season. It’s a grind to get to this point. If you’ve made it this far into the season with championship hopes still intact, here are some IDP waiver wire pickups to help you either make the playoffs or prepare for it.

The numbers in parentheses next to the player’s name represent their ownership on Sleeper. Any scoring references will be in the IDP123 system.

Defensive Line

YaYa Diaby (21%) reached a season-high 93% snap share against the Panthers in Week 13. It led to six tackles (five solo) and three quarterback hits. That’s a decent stat line, but the primary purpose of defensive linemen in IDP is to sack the QB. Diaby will have a good chance at that in Week 14 as the Buccaneers face off against Aidan O’Connell and the Raiders. If you’re in a deeper league and have some byes at DL, Diaby is worth consideration just from the sheer snaps he sees and the matchup.

Consider this a premonition, but I have a very good feeling that 49er’s edge Leonard Floyd (39%) will post a sack in this week’s matchup versus the Bears. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has been sacked a league-high 49 times. The game is in Santa Clara and San Francisco is barely alive as far as playoff contention. If you’re in a shallow league and want a flex with upside, you could certainly do worse than Floyd.

Other options: Leonard Williams (36%), Seahawks; Will McDonald IV (33%), Jets; and Chauncey Golston (4%), Cowboys.

Linebackers

Azeez Al-Shaair will miss the next three games due to suspension after nearly decapitating Jaguars’ quarterback Trevor Lawrence with an egregious hit. Neville Hewitt (6%) filled in for Al-Shaair during the rest of the Jacksonville game. He also played a significant role in the defense when Houston was suffering from linebacker injury issues earlier in the season. Fire him up as long as Christian Harris doesn’t return. Hewitt should see plenty of snaps and tackle volume to put together a solid fantasy performance.

If you prefer the high risk-high reward type of waiver, Troy Dye (4%) started in place of Denzel Perryman last week and did not disappoint. Replacing Nick Niemann, Dye played 77% of snaps and racked up 14 tackles (seven solo). Monitor the situation, but if Perryman is a no-go for Sunday’s showdown at Arrowhead, Dye is the type of spot-start that could pay big dividends!

Other options: Isaiah McDuffie (11%), Packers; Justin Strnad (13%), Broncos; and Akeem Davis-Gaither (4%), Bengals.

Defensive Backs

Jabrill Peppers (15%) returned for his first game since playing in Week 4. He stayed on the field for all defensive snaps and accumulated nine tackles (five solo). He’s about as solid of a safety as there is in IDP and you should claim him as a starting defensive back option in the fantasy playoffs. The Patriots and Peppers will be on bye in Week 14 before heading to Arizona for their next game.

Other options: Byron Murphy (25%), Vikings; Tarheeb Still (3%), Chargers; and P.J. Locke (9%), Broncos.
