Linebacker Injury Report Week 6

Below are some injuries worth monitoring as we start Week 6. Please consider these players’ injuries when setting your lineups.

Atlanta Falcons

Nathan Landman and Troy Andersen were unavailable, so Falcons rookie JD Bertrand stepped in, playing 72% of the defensive snaps in Andersen’s absence due to injury. Even though he did not do much, his presence will be needed for IDP Owners who need a linebacker during bye weeks. He is a top popular waiver claim for another week.

Speaking of waiver wire pickups, LB Trevin Wallace was the top waiver claim last week, and he rewarded us with a 15-tackle breakout game. Even if Josey Jewell returns from injury, he’ll have a full-time role moving forward, as the Panthers prefer to play two full-time inside linebackers.

The news currently right now is that the Panthers held several players’ out from practice, so Jewell’s status is again up in the air. Trevin Wallace to the moon, again!

Another observation. Keep an eye on Jordyn Hicks who had a light practice. If he cannot go, it’s Devin Bush again. Bush is proving to be a sneaky back-door waiver claim in IDP circles, last week he had 93% snaps and produced ten tackles. Keep an eye on updates as we get closer to game time.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Foyesade Oluokun is dealing with Planta Fasciitis, which is going to keep him out until at least week 8. Good luck sorting through this mess. Since Oluokun sustained a foot injury back in Week 3 it’s been a three-man rotation.

I wrote in my every linebacker article this observation- Devin Lloyd returned from injury and played 97% of the snaps, while Ventrell Miller (59%) and Chad Muma (46%) split time at the LB2 spot. This is something I anticipate seeing until he is healthy again.

C.J. Mosley remains questionable and is still working through injury. He suffered from turf toe. This injury is different from turf toe, as the ligaments were not sprained. However, the impact jammed the toe joints, leading to pain and inflammation that affected his mobility.

Despite receiving a pain-relieving injection, he has missed action since week 3. This can be expected with older players and Mosley is 32 years old. Owners will have to take a wait-and-see approach but don’t be surprised if he is a scratch again for lineups.
