Waiver Wire Adds for Offense – Week 8

Ryan Odell and Stephen Chalmers

Welcome back! It’s Stephen Chalmers and Ryan Odell back with another edition of our waiver wire article series. As we continue into the year it becomes harder and harder to find waiver wire gems and players we haven’t talked about before. But don’t worry we got you guys covered! Here’s players we think you should be adding going into week 8.

Darrell Henderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Ryan and I talked a lot about how we needed to see the Rams backfield play out with the injury to Kyren Williams. After watching Sunday’s game, I’m confident in saying Henderson is the guy for the short term while Kyren Williams is on IR. In his first game back in a Rams uniform, he had a 57% snap share which led to 18 carries, 2 receiving targets, and 66 scrimmage yards. Oh, and he scored. This led to a RB17 finish. Not bad for not playing football for the whole year up to this point.

Taysom Hill, TE, New Orleans Saints

I know you’re gonna say this guy is outside of the top fifteen tight ends currently. But hold on. Back-to-back top 6 tight end finishes is something to keep an eye on. A do-it-all type of player who can beat you with his arm, hands, and legs. A vital piece to the New Orleans Saints offense. 13 targets over the last two weeks and 6 carries! And he rushed for a touchdown in week 7. He has multi versatility in many of leagues. You can slot him in at quarterback or tight end. I would just play him as a tight end though.

Dalton Kincaid, TE, Buffalo Bills

I know, I know, the first-round pick hasn’t been what we expected. He hasn’t produced like Sam LaPorta. But no matter how you spin it, the tight end position has a steep learning curve. That curve is now. With an opportunity to more playing time opening up due to the Dawson Knox injury, Kincaid played his highest snap percentage since week 1. Which led to an 8 target and 8 catch game for 75 yards. A TE7 finish. We all know about Kincaid’s college production and athletic profile. Stash him now while you can.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR, Seattle Seahawks

It was never if the “breakout” would happen, it was when. Ryan and I talked a lot in the off-season about how ideally Jaxson Smith-Njigba wasn’t drafted to a great fantasy situation. Short term on a run first offense he has to play alongside D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. With Metcalf missing week 7 due to injury, Smith-Njigba finished as WR17 with a seven target, four catch, and 63-yard stat line. Oh and he scored his first NFL touchdown! Also to note in week 6 and 7, these were his highest snap participation games to date. He’s getting more involved. Watch out!

Tyson Bagent, QB, Chicago Bears

This is for the people who have adapted and play in super flex formats and not just the one QB formats anymore. A starting QB is hard to come by at this point in the year. But lo and behold an injury to Justin Fields and we’re not too sure how much time he’ll miss. Tyson Bagent didn’t wow us with an amazing stat line, but he got the job done in his first NFL start. Most important to note was his clutch ability. He was 5/9 on third downs and all five of his passes were completed for first downs. He was very calm, cool, and collected for being a Division II quarterback. I like the kid!

This concludes our week eight waiver wire article as always have a good week and go get some Ws in your fantasy leagues!
