Week 10 Start/Sit: Offense

5 Start, 5 Sit for Week 10 of the 2024 NFL Season

The NFL Season is now in full swing and every week brings with it new, dramatic story lines and roster-building challenges.  Bye-weeks and injuries are likely plaguing your lineups by now and if not, you might be deciding between two startable players to get the most points possible. I’m going to go over ten players and let you know whether I think they are worth starting or whether they should stay on your bench…or worse.

Matthew Stafford vs MIA – Start

Since getting Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua back, Stafford has put together two solid weeks. He’s been pretty subpar so far this year, but think he is going to climb back into the QB10-15 range over the rest of the season. Against two tough passing defenses in Seattle and Minnesota, Stafford tallied 577 yards and 6 touchdowns. This week the Rams play the Dolphins on Monday night which should allow another opportunity for Stafford to put up good numbers. If your team is getting thrashed by bad QB play or bye weeks, Stafford is a great fill in.

Tyrone Tracy vs CAR – Start

Tyrone Tracy got his first real carries in week 5 with Devin Singletary out with injury. In the weeks since, he’s totaled 77 carries, 413 yards, and 2 touchdowns, even with Singletary returning. The Giants as a whole don’t have much going for them, but the run game has been dynamite with Tracy. This week, like many before him, he gets the boon of playing the Panthers. Even though the Saints suffered a horrendous lost to them last week, Alvin Kamara still had 29 carries for 155 yards and 6 catches for 60 yards. Tracy should be in for a massive game, so if he’s been languishing on your taxi squad, this is the week to get him in your lineup.

Josh Downs vs BUF – Start

I had expected Michael Pittman to been the biggest producer on the Colts this year, but evidently that title belongs to Josh Downs. Downs’ biggest games have been with Joe Flacco at the helm, but he was still able to put up decent numbers with Anthony Richardson. Since Richardson is too tired to start currently, I’m expecting Downs to continue his streak of success with Flacco. He was the leader or tied for the lead in targets in all but one game he’s played in this year and has been able to run routes all over the field. His route flexibility makes him a dangerous weapon for the Colts and he should be a week winner for you.

Mike Gesicki vs BAL – Start

Gesicki tends to do much better when Tee Higgins is out, and what do you know, Tee is out this week. Gesicki has gotten incredible volume the past two weeks and actually just barely cracked 100 yards against the Raiders. Baltimore’s passing defense has been full of holes all season and the last time the Bengals played them, Joe Burrow threw 5 touchdowns. I fully anticipate Gesicki catching at least one of those balls and being heavily involved in the passing offense between the 20s. If your league gives bonus points for 1-handed catches, you’ll be in for a treat this week as well.

Alvin Kamara vs ATL – Start

I don’t think it’s going to be too much of a shock that I’m recommending Kamara this week given that he is currently the RB2 on the season. However, the Saints organization has been going through a tough time after a bad loss to Carolina. Some people might be thinking that the team as a whole will start suffering in fantasy, but I don’t think Kamara can really be affected by that. The Saints run game has been pretty much the only stable part of their season and Kamara’s stat lines are proof of that. He’s averaging over 20 points per game (PPR) and only has one week under 10 points. Don’t let the negativity surrounding the team keep you from getting a “free” 20 points this week.

C.J. Stroud vs DET- Sit

Stroud is hard to figure this year. With respect to football, he’s a fantastic quarterback that consistently puts his team on his back to win games. But in fantasy, he has under scored his projection every week except two. He only has three games with multiple touchdowns and only 4 games with 250+ yards. Granted, he has been missing his WR1 for half of his games, but even with Nico Collins, he only cracked 20 points once. Detroit’s pass defense is very aggressive and very good at taking the ball away, so Stroud is in for a tough matchup. If you have him in a dynasty league, obviously he isn’t going anywhere, but I might look for a substitute this week.

Raheem Mostert vs LAR – Sit

For a while I was recommending you sit all Dolphins running backs, but since Tua is healthy again, at least De’Von Achane is performing well. Since Tua’s return, Mostert has only been getting about 10 carries a game and his efficiency isn’t always the best. Aside from his two touchdowns in week 8, he has barely even been worthy of a flex spot. Achane has very clearly taken over the running back role and Mostert is now probably droppable unless there’s injuries in the future.

D.J. Moore vs NE – Sit

D.J. Moore has been completely silent since week five. He only has 10 catches for 80 yards in three games despite drawing 18 targets. The Bears’ offense seems to be falling back into the same rut it finds itself in season after season and DJ Moore is a victim this year. If you watch him run routes it barely looks like he’s even trying. I hope I’m wrong, but it seems like his effort is pretty low for this offense. New England has a solid pass defense as well, so I don’t like Moore’s chances of a great performance.

Pat Freiermuth vs WAS – Sit

Even with the Steelers finally figuring out how to have a reasonable passing offense, Pat Freiermuth can’t seem to get anything going. He hasn’t had more than 3 catches in a game since week 4 and has only scored more than 10 points once. The Steelers also added Mike Williams from the Jets this week, meaning that there are now even fewer targets to go around. I’m expecting that you’ll be able to find a much better option at tight end this week.

Travis Etienne vs MIN – Sit

Etienne is working his way back from a hamstring injury, but he was outsnapped by Tank Bigsby last week. You can expect his volume to ramp up in the coming weeks, but I still don’t think he’ll be doing anything worth starting. The Vikings also provide potentionally the toughest run defense in the league, and Etienne hasn’t really been used much in the passing game this year. Even if Etienne is able to retake a more prominent role in the offence, I still don’t think he’ll be worth starting. As long as he’s still getting out touched by Tank Bigsby, he might not even be worth keeping on your team.
