Week 11 Start/Sit: Offense

5 Start, 5 Sit for Week 11 of the 2024 NFL Season

The NFL Season is now in full swing and every week brings with it new, dramatic story lines and roster-building challenges.  Bye-weeks and injuries are likely plaguing your lineups by now and if not, you might be deciding between two startable players to get the most points possible. I’m going to go over ten players and let you know whether I think they are worth starting or whether they should stay on your bench…or worse.

Russell Wilson vs BAL – Start

Wilson has continued to do very well since he took over leading the Steelers. He is averaging over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns in those three games and also is getting up to speed with new weapon, Mike Williams. The Steelers play the Ravens at home this week which should spell a great matchup for Russ and his receivers. Baltimore is fresh off of allowing 428 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns against the Bengals. Now, the Steelers are far from being as explosive as the Bengals, but I do think that Mr. Unlimited will be able to put up big numbers this week.

Joe Mixon vs DAL – Start

Joe Mixon remains one of the only consistently good parts of the Texans’ offense. In every game he has finished (left week 2 early), he’s scored at least one touchdown, and all except last week against the Lions he’s had over 100 rushing yards. The rest of the Texans have been struggling, but Mixon remains a must start. With Nico Collins returning this week, the passing game should open up more, giving Mixon even more room the work. Additionally, the Cowboys haven’t played worse in years. This should be a good one for Joe.

Darnell Mooney vs DEN – Start

Mooney has been fantastic this year. Operating as the #2 receiver on an offense with a great #1 and a good run game has made his life way easier. Still, he’s been able to draw 7.8 targets per game putting him in the upper percentile of fantasy receivers. Denver has a good pass defense, but Mooney has been able to shine even in less-than-favorable matchups. Pat Surtain is likely to follow Drake London around the field, leaving Mooney the wreak havoc on the #2 corner. I think he’s a great option this week especially if you’re dealing with injuries or bye weeks.

T.J. Hockenson vs TEN – Start

With Hockenson back and fully healthy, I think he will be re-establishing himself as the #2 option in the Vikings’ offense. Since his return, Jordan Addison‘s targets have taken a dip and last week Hockenson returned to form with 8 catches for 82 yards. The Titan’s defense is no joke, and Sam Darnold has been regressing a little each week. I think he’s going to be under a lot of pressure and will be looking to get the ball out fast. Hockenson excels at short to mid-range routes and is a big body in short yardage/red zone territory. He should be Darnold’s best friend this week.

Jakobi Meyers vs MIA – Start

With Davante Adams gone, Jakobi Meyers has become the only notable receiver on the Raiders. With only Brock Bowers to steal targets, Meyers’ volume should be immense the rest of the season. In only 7 games he’s played this year, he’s racked up 39 catches for 430 yards and two touchdowns (three of those games were with Adams). The Dolphins’ defense is pretty middling, and Meyers has excelled against much better teams. I think, he will continue his hot streak in Miami.

Caleb Williams vs GB- Sit

Caleb has put together three awful games in a row after the bye week. Strange considering how well he played before the bye. It’s been so bad for Chicago that they fired their offensive coordinator earlier this week! Sometimes the week after a coach firing there’s a bump in performance, but with the Packers coming to town, I don’t think the bump they could get is going to help. Green Bay’s defense has been stout this year and Chicago’s offense really shouldn’t pose much threat. I’m expecting Caleb to be running for his life pretty early. You can expect another sub-10 pointer this week.

J.K. Dobbins vs CIN – Sit

Dobbins faces two obstacles this week. The first is the return of teammate Gus Edwards, who has already begun to eat away at touches. Edwards outgained Dobbins 55-50 last week, although Dobbins did have 5 more carries. The second is that the game script is likely not going to be heavy on the run after the Bengals get their offense rolling. I’m expecting a rather low-volume day for Dobbins this week, however, he might sneak a touchdown in to stay relevant.

Tyreek Hill vs LV – Sit

Tua’s return should’ve sparked a huge uptick in scoring for Hill, but it really hasn’t happened. Earlier this week it was reported that he’s been playing with a torn ligament in his wrist since week 1. I’m not sure if that injury has been hampering his ability, but I do know that it’s been lackluster. The potential is certainly there, but in general, the Dolphins’ offense just hasn’t really been moving the needle this season. If I were a Tyreek Hill owner, I might look to trade him before his value drops too far and try to get someone who is actively scoring points.

Cole Kmet vs GB – Sit

I mentioned the Bears’ implosion above, but Kmet’s issues don’t even have to consider that really. He’s only had 2 meaningful performances this year and against two of the worst defenses in the league. In games that really matter, he’s more or less getting blanked. Chicago has so many other receiving targets, that Kmet often gets overlooked. Or Caleb is running around like crazy and can’t get him the ball. In either case, Kmet has been saddeningly underwhelming in 2024. I’d leave him on the bench…or the waiver wire.

Anthony Richardson vs NYJ – Sit

Likely a surprise to no one, I don’t think you should play Richardson this week. His only good game was week 1, he’s missed games for injury, and he’s missed games because he was benched. Now, the Colts have played so badly with Joe Flacco that they’ve gone back to the guy that they previously benched. It’s a clown show in Indianapolis.  Interestingly enough, the Jets have also been a clown show this year, so we might be in for a very entertaining, or very sad football game. Until I see Richardson complete three straight games with at least one touchdown, I don’t think he’s worthy of even being on your roster.
