IDP Waiver Wire for Week 5
If you are looking for defensive players to upgrade your roster, check out my list of IDP Waiver Wire additions for week 5. These recommendations are based on a 12-team league with an IDP123 scoring system, but I will also add a few names for deeper leagues.
Teams on bye in week 5 include the Browns, Chargers, Seahawks and Buccaneers.
Defensive Linemen
Jonathan Allen (DT-WSH) – Allen faces the Chicago Bears in week 5, a team that has allowed a sack to an interior defensive linemen in all the games so far this season. This Commanders’ defensive line is really good and Allen will have space to pressure and get to Justin Fields. Through four games, Allen has 2 sacks in 3 pressures, 13 tackles, 4 quarterback hits and 4 tackles-for-loss.
Other options: David Onyemata, Samson Ebukam and Jonathon Cooper.
Linebackers
David Long (LB-MIA) – When Long is healthy, he is good. In the first week he played only 21% of the snaps, but in the following weeks, he saw an increase on his usage and recorded at least 7 combined tackles. In the next 3 weeks, Long also had a sack and a few quarterback hits. This week, he will be facing the New York Giants, a team that has allowed an average of 17 tackles to linebackers. In addition, the Giants should have their best offensive weapon back, Saquon Barkley.
Other Options: Nate Landman, Chad Muma and Ezekiel Turner.
Defensive Backs
Sam Franklin (S-CAR): Franklin is a player that always been a deep option for the Panthers roster. Carolina lost their starting safety, Xavier Woods, for 4 to 6 weeks due to a hamstring injury and Franklin replaced him in week 3. During week 4, he played 98% of the snaps and had a solid game against the Vikings with 4 tackles, a pass defended and an incredible pick six with 99 return yards. This week, he will be facing Detroit, a team that allows a lot of tackles to safeties. The favorable matchup will allow Franklin to help you bring home a win in week 5.
Other Options: Russ Yeast, Andre Cisco and Akayleb Evans.
