IDP Waiver Wire for Week 8
If you are looking for defensive players to upgrade your roster, check out my list of IDP Waiver Wire additions for week 8. These recommendations are based on a 12-team league with an IDP123 scoring system, but I will also add a few names for deeper leagues. No teams on bye this week.
Defensive Linemen
Bryce Huff (NYJ – Edge): Huff is an underrated edge who started the year as rotational player on this strong defensive line, but he has seen his snaps increase in recent weeks. It is hard to keep him off the field as his win rate increases and he continues to accumulate quarterback pressures. He is only behind Jermaine Johnson and John Franklin-Meyers on snaps played, but he is the edge with more pressures on the team (14) and in top 20 in the league in this category. This week the Jets will be facing the Giants, in a New York confrontation, and the Giants have allowed the second most sacks in the league and are top 3 in sacks to edge rushers.
Additional options: Josh Sweat, Denico Autry and Tuli Tuipulotu.
Linebackers
Blake Cashman (HOU – LB): Rostered only 3%, according to Sleeper, Cashman is coming off a bye, but during week 6 he had a stellar performance recording 15 combined tackles and 100% of the snaps played. Houston will travel to Carolina to face the Panthers, in a first vs second rookie pick of the draft matchup. Panthers with Young as quarterback and Reich as head coach have allowed a solid number of tackles to linebackers (17 weekly average). This should allow Cashman to have another great game.
Additional options: Drue Tranquill, David Mayo and Luke Masterson.
Defensive Backs
Markquese Bell (DAL – S): Bell started the year, primarily in the rotation, playing everywhere during the first five games of the season and with less than 50% snaps. Dan Quinn, the defensive coordinator of the Cowboys, is a defensive mind that loves packages with a lot of defensive backs on the field. Quinn will find a way to utilize Bell just like he did with hybrid safety/linebackers ike Foyesade Oluokun and Keanu Neal. Following Leighton Vander Esch’s injury in week 5, Bell saw his linebacker snaps increase. During week 6, Bell played 54%, most of that as LB2, recording 7 combined tackles and a pass defended. After the bye, Bell will be facing the Rams, a team that has allowed a great number of tackles to linebackers. So, who doesn’t like a potential cheat code on your team?
Additional options: Benjamin St-Juste, D.J. Reed, Elijah Molden and Nate Hobbs.
