IDP Waiver Wire for Week 9

IDP Waiver Wire for Week 9

If you are looking for defensive players to upgrade your roster, check out my list of IDP Waiver Wire additions for week 9. These recommendations are based on a 12-team league with an IDP123 scoring system, but I will also add a few names for deeper leagues.

Teams on bye this week include the Broncos, 49ers, Jaguars and Lions.

Defensive Linemen

D.J. Wonnum (Edge – Vikings)

The last few years, Wonnum has been an interesting waiver pick in middle of the season and this year is no different. Wonnum started the year third on the depth chart behind Danielle Hunter and Marcus Davenport, but he has seen an increase in playing time following Davenport’s injury in week 6. He had a consistent tackles, no less than 3 every game, but since the Davenport injury Wonnum has seen his quarterback pressures and sacks increase. This week, he and the Vikings will be travelling to Atlanta to face the Falcons, a top 10 team in two aspects: sacks and tackles allowed to edge rushers.

Additional options: Boye Mafe, Deatrich Wise and Samson Ebukam

Linebackers

Damone Clark (ILB – Cowboys): rostered only 7%, according to Sleeper

Clark has been leading this linebacker group since the Leighton Vander Each injury. Having at least 6 tackles per game, this week he is a great add as the Cowboys take on the Eagles in a key divisional matchup. The Eagles are consistently in the top 10 in tackles allowed to allowed to linebackers. I anticipate the Eagles will try to control the clock by running a lot which give Clark plenty of tackle opportunities.

Additional options: Jack Gibbens, Jahlani Tavai and Jack Sanborn

Defensive Backs

Xavier Woods (S – Panthers)

Woods is a safety that plays primarily as free safety. He got injured during week 3, but returned this past week and had a really good game with 8 tackles and a fumble recovery. This week he will be facing the Colts, a top 5 team in tackles allowed to safeties. The Colts also have allowed no less than 5 tackles to the safety that played primarily as FS, since Minshew became the Colts starting quarterback.

Additional options: Tony Adams, Julius Brents and Justin Reid
