Waiver Wire Adds for Offense – Week 7

Ryan Odell and Stephen Chalmers

Well ladies and gentlemen, welcome to everyone’s least favorite time of the year! THE BYE WEEKS ARE COMING!!! Week 7 we have the Bengals, Cowboys, Jets, Titans, Texans, and Panthers, so let’s try to get those empty spots filled with a few fliers that can help you get through the week. Most of the guys at the top of the priorities this week we have already covered in earlier articles, so we hope you have been paying attention.

Zach Evans RB Rams Rostered 5%

The former TCU and Ole Miss standout will likely get the nod this week for the first time with Kyren Williams dealing with an ankle sprain and Ronnie Rivers with a suspected PCL injury. That being said, this Rams offense with returned star Cooper Kupp offers some upside regardless of who is leading the backfield as they average 108 rushing yards per game. Evans posted an impressive 6.9 yards per carry in college, how that translates into the NFL has yet to be seen but he’s worth an add this week in a rough running back landscape this week.

Jordan Mason RB 49ers Rostered 5%

Christian McCaffrey, everyone’s favorite fantasy running back has fallen, although I think this affects the offense more than you would think, I would still love to own an RB in Kyle Shanahan’s offense. Jordan Mason has scored in back-to-back games and has been effective on the ground touting around 6.4 yards per carry. Although he’s only had 1 catch so far this season, I expect that to change. Elijah Mitchell lies in the shadows but having negative yards in a game probably leaves a bad taste in the coaches’ mouths. Expect Mason to lead the backfield for a banged-up 49ers offense.

Rashee Rice WR KC Rostered 55%

So far this season Rice has the highest roster percentage, however if he is still out there, he is a must add this week as he faces the Chargers who give up an average of 45.3 points per game to the wide receiver position. Rashee Rice hasn’t had his big breakout game yet this season, but this week offers a pretty good chance to be it.  Rice has about 5 targets per game thus far and to me the obvious future number 1 receiver for Mahomes going forward. If you’re in a bind this week, he could produce WR3/Flex numbers against a soft secondary.

Josh Downs WR IND Rostered 50%

Before I go any further, I want to say this week I’m not comfortably starting Downs this week against the daunting Browns defense, this is more of a stash play. Finally getting into it, in 2 games with Gardner Minshew starting, Downs has an eye-popping 20 targets. Minshew is looking for the rookie wideout early and often. Not to mention the 99 passing attempts means there’s plenty of chances to go around. This gives Downs some massive PPR upside for as long as Richardson stays out.  Don’t expect much going into this week, but I’m expecting bigger things for him in games going forward.

Kareem Hunt RB CLE Rostered 45%

Kareem Hunt seems to be worked into this Browns offense slowly as he was signed as a free agent just a month ago as we’ve seen him eat into Jerome Fords workload with each passing week. While Deshuan Watson is sidelined, the run game will likely flourish, giving Hunt a chance to prove himself. Pairing that with Hunt playing the Colts, who have a bottom run defense in the league, could be a recipe for success this week. Past this week, I don’t think he moves the needle for me too much but sometimes all you need is a one-week flier to help you survive.

HM: Michael Mayer LV TE Rostered 12%

Every week it seems we have a Tight End on our waivers, but this week Mayer led the team in receiving yards and had his breakout game. He could be a worthy stash.
